Retreat Title: Anapanasati - Mindfulness as a Path to Awakening

Led by Led by Prakasha

On this retreat we will explore the Buddha’s teaching on awareness of the in-and-out breath from the Anapanasati Sutta. The breath is used as a focus for awareness of the four foundations of body, feelings, mental states and mental objects.

This simple and profound practice is a complete path to awakening. By following the breath, we become more embodied and are enabled to work with our mental states. Through bringing awareness and attention to our direct experience we can cultivate both tranquillity (shamatha) and illuminating insight (vipashyana). When phenomena are recognised as impermanent, unsatisfactory and insubstantial, then the three gateways to liberation arise, the signless, wishless and sunyata contemplations. The retreat will include puja and ritual with supportive silence and meditation reviews.

This retreat is suitable for people who have been meditating for at least 3 years
