Retreat Title: Sadhana and the Illuminated Imagination

Led by Led by Prakasha, with Jinapalita and Rijumitra

Sangharakshita and the Preceptors College are currently re-emphasising the value of sadhana, both as a means of personal transformation and as a way of entering into the ‘lineage of inspiration.’
During the retreat we will explore the significance of the five paradigmatic stages of sadhana and the most creative ways of bringing these stages about in our practice. We will also look at how to cultivate the imaginal faculty, and how images of the imagination arise – the samayasattva, and how they become ‘illuminated’ images – the jnanasattva.
Each sadhana embodies a dramatic myth that expresses the rich symbolism of the sambhogakaya – the dimension of presence and illumination. So sadhana is a profound ‘means of accomplishment’ of both tranquillity and insight – shamatha and vipashyana. This retreat will be a valuable opportunity to engage – or re-engage – with sadhana practice in a helpful, supportive and inspiring context. This retreat will include puja and ritual devoted to various sadhanas, with supportive silence and regular meditation reviews.
