Vajra Vajraloka Retreat Centre

I first came on a retreat here over twelve years ago and, though initially rather nervous, I had a wonderful time and from then on Vajraloka became like a second home to me.

I often entertained what seemed to be fantasies of one day coming to live and work here. However, after an extended retreat here a few years ago, these fantasies became a reality and I decided to come and join the community as the resident chef.

For three years I was responsible for providing the food on the retreats, a task that I came to really enjoy. I liked cooking and with a fair amount of experience in the catering trade, I found that I had the skills to be able to produce a wide range of lovely food. There really is a great pleasure in just feeding people, in providing one of our most basic needs!

That said, after three years I felt it was time to let someone else have a go and I have now taken on the responsibility of marketing and publicising Vajraloka.

It really is a wonderful life here with the opportunities for meditation practice, living and working with a team of great guys, and the added pleasure of Snowdonia’s mountains within a 45-minute drive!
